Scrap metal pickup that comes to you
Most people have scrap metal sitting around: an old trailer frame, a pile of steel offcuts, a dead hot water system, broken car parts or a shed full of things nobody uses. Taking it to a scrap yard yourself means borrowing a trailer, loading it, queuing and unloading. KDS does all of that for you.
Tyson runs a Hino flat-tray truck out of St Marys and collects scrap metal across Penrith, Blacktown, Mount Druitt, the Blue Mountains, the Hawkesbury and out to the Central Coast. When the metal is worth enough to cover the trip, the pickup costs you nothing. When it isn't, you get a clear price before anyone turns up.

Scrap metal bins for mechanics and workshops
Running a mechanic, auto electrical, fabrication or engineering shop in Western Sydney? KDS can drop a scrap metal bin at your workshop and empty it when it fills up. Your old parts and offcuts stop cluttering the floor, and they get recycled properly.
- Goes in the bin: alternators, starter motors, gearboxes, metal offcuts, steel, stainless, aluminium/alloy, copper and brass, including parts that contain these metals.
- Before loading: drain all oils and fluids. Check with us first before loading heavy gearboxes or bulky parts.
- Kept separate: lead-acid car and truck batteries are collected separately, not in the bin.
- Never in the bin: lithium batteries, rubbish or liquids.
Bins go where the type and volume of metal makes the arrangement work. Tell us your suburb, the metals you produce and roughly how much, and we'll confirm. Bin ownership, accepted materials, weight limits and collection timing are all agreed before drop-off.
One bin is ready now, with two more on the way. Supply depends on the metal you produce, your location and access.
Ask about a workshop binAustralian-standard pallet removal
Pallets piling up at your warehouse, shop or site? KDS collects empty Australian-standard pallets (1165 × 1165 mm). Send photos, your suburb, the number of pallets and loading access. We check condition, quantity, ownership and access, then confirm the collection time and whether there's any charge.
Need loaded pallets delivered instead? That's our pallet delivery and warehouse freight service, from $180 + GST across Western Sydney.
Is scrap metal collection free?
Often, yes. Whether a pickup is free comes down to four things: the type of metal, the quantity, the distance, and how easy it is to load. Here is how it usually works out.
You'll always know the price, or that it's free, before you book.

Scrap metal collection questions
Is scrap metal collection free?
Usually, for suitable metal in a worthwhile quantity with easy access. Small low-value loads, long travel, difficult access, extra labour or non-metal waste can attract a charge. Send photos and your suburb and you'll know before you book.
Do you pay for copper and aluminium?
Yes. KDS buys copper and aluminium. Text photos, your suburb and an estimated quantity to 0412 994 805 and we'll agree a buying price and pickup time before we come out.
Do you collect scrap cars?
Yes, after an assessment. Send photos, your suburb, the access details and whether the car rolls, and we'll confirm the arrangements and any collection charge.
Do you take car batteries?
Yes, lead-acid car and truck batteries, including as part of a yard cleanup. Condition and safe handling are checked before collection. We do not take lithium batteries.
Can you take rubbish as well as metal?
Only as part of a quoted cleanup. Agreed non-hazardous items can be included, with any tip fees confirmed first. Free scrap collection doesn't cover general rubbish.
What can't you take?
Lithium batteries, asbestos, chemicals, gas cylinders, oils, liquids and other hazardous waste. Demolition jobs, contaminated sites and specialist waste removal aren't part of a standard cleanup.
Can my workshop get a scrap bin?
Yes, if you're a suitable local mechanic, automotive or fabrication workshop. The bin takes alternators, starter motors, gearboxes, offcuts and parts containing steel, stainless, aluminium, copper or brass. Drain fluids first, keep batteries separate, and tell us your suburb and roughly how much metal you produce.
What size pallets do you remove?
Australian-standard pallets measuring 1165 × 1165 mm. Send photos, quantity, suburb and loading access, and we'll confirm condition, ownership, timing and any charge before booking.
Which areas do you collect scrap metal from?
All of Western Sydney including St Marys, Penrith, Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Wetherill Park, Eastern Creek and Windsor, plus the Blue Mountains, Lithgow and the Central Coast. Newcastle, Bathurst, Orange, Parkes and Dubbo are considered for larger loads.
How quickly can you pick up?
Availability depends on the route, the load and existing bookings. Ask about urgent pickups, repeat collections and scheduled runs, and call 0412 994 805 for anything time-critical.
